Alfredo Chaves is known to be the most frequently used take-off in the state of Espirito Santo. It’s easily accessible and takes only 20 minutes to drive from the landing field to the take-off. With numerous big, safe places to land scattered along the valley from Cachoeira Alta into Alfredo Chaves, it’s an ideal place to blow away the cobwebs and fine-tune your thermalling skills before moving on to the bigger sites.
It has a vertical drop of 1,500′, which is smaller than Valadares and Castelo, but still bigger than many British sites.
It’s close proximity to Vitória and being only 45 minutes from some amazing beaches at Iriri makes this a favourite with many pilots.
